Hard to believe it’s November! I want to thank Deborah Osterberg, Susan Gilday, and Jane Hamilton for helping me with our Friday Haul workday on October 10th. We had plenty of food, beautiful weather and another successful PYC haul. Looking forward to the Fall Banquet on November 1st. Hope to see you there. Don’t forget our November First Friday is next week. Please see Vice Commodore Pat’s article for information.
I want to thank our outgoing Executive Committee members Vice Commodore Pat Sangster, Rear Commodore John Garlock, and Treasurer Garland Nichols, thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the Club.

PYC General Meeting – Sunday, December 7th at 1:30 PM 📍 Pultneyville Fire Department
Join us for the PYC General Meeting to catch up on club updates and plans for 2026. Please bring a dessert or appetizer to share. We will order some pizzas too.
If you are able to come out for the Happy Hour, or General Meeting, I was hoping we could have people bring something to donate to the Open Door Mission again this year- blankets, bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant for men and women, socks, new underwear for men, women and children, cereal, oatmeal, towels and any canned goods. These items will be delivered before Christmas.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season! The 2026 Boating Season will be here before you know it.

Flares from the Vice Commodore | Pat Sangster
A huge thank you to the many volunteers that helped during our social and work events this season. I greatly appreciate your support and fun times during the prep and cleanup. Of note where a few that donated time and/or food on multiple occasions: Bruce B, Jane H, Diane B, Emily W, Cheryl K, Kathy C, Stephanie F, Joan S, Kathy F, and Ann T. Special thanks to John Garlock and Steve Sangster as they both worked in the background for just about every event this year. It has been a lot of fun working with everyone.
Our First Friday happy hours will continue during the off season. If you have a location to suggest for a meeting place, please reach out. Thank you.

DOCKSIDE DISPATCHES from the Rear Commodore | John Garlock
The last two sail boats came out of the water today, October 26. Crews are busy sanding, painting, dismantling for winter projects somewhere warm. Boats are being covered by competent hands, and the wind has already won some battles. Haul is over, boat ramp launch repair has begun. Water will be turned off; committee boat and work boat will be winterized; pump out station has been winterized and closed for the season. Forklift maintenance will proceed as usual, even as the machine approaches its 47th year of service next year!
Friday will be the last garbage pickup, please refrain from adding anything nasty.
Thank you very much for the dedicated club Captains who have taken on assignments without being assigned over and over again! Thanks for all the hard workers who have fulfilled their obligation. It takes crew to make a club and there are many opportunities to get involved. It’s the commitment of helping hands that makes PYC!
⏳ Stay tuned only six more months until launch, specific date forthcoming!

Welcome Aboard Waves From The Membership CHair | Cathy MacDonald
By now your boat is “on the hard” and you are probably getting ready to put her to bed for the winter season.
We have good news this month. We welcome the Davidhazys back as Voting members and also C P Maloney. We also have three new Voting members:
- Bruce Parks & Susan Gilday who recently purchased Libra and are staying with PYC.
- Adam Stumpf & his son Jonah. They are still in the process of finding a new boat. Please give them a warm welcome.
- Our latest new member is Alice Alessandroni, who has a 23’ O’Day. Alice has had a great deal of sailing experience.
🎉 Please give them all a warm PYC welcome!
I am concerned that we are not getting more requests for membership applications! We need everyone’s help to bring in more new members so please do all you can to spread the word to other boaters on how great club is. As always, please download & print out the membership application flyer and post it wherever appropriate, and don’t forget to cut the tear-offs at the bottom for easy access before posting. Thank you. Click link to download flyer: PYC Membership Application Flyer
