Signals from the Commodore | Kathy Fedick
Welcome to February!! Let’s hope Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t see his shadow this year, so Spring is near. In 90 days, the boats will be back in the water. Launch is Saturday May 2nd!! Mark your calendars. The 2026 Executive Committee is getting the calendar of events/races/workdays together. Please welcome Emily Wilczewski as Vice Commodore and Ben Yager as Rear Commodore and Leslie Phillips as Treasurer and returning BOG Chair Dan Socci, Fleet Captain Kevin Yager and Secretary David Kay. Looking forward to working with everyone.
I want to thank the outgoing Executive Committee members Vice Commodore Pat Sangster, Rear Commodore John Garlock, and Treasurer Garland Nichols for all their hard work. Also want to thank Greg Fitzpatrick for all the years he was our PYC Dockmaster, please welcome Carl Webeck as our new PYC Dockmaster. Greg thanks for working with Carl.
The PYC membership is what makes the club the great place it is. Special thanks go out to the many club members and special committee members who contribute above and beyond the required workdays to help keep the club running smooth. It’s never too late, get involved with helping out on a special project, dredging, keeping the club grounds beautiful or helping with a PYC event and workday.
Keith Herman, owner of the restored ALMAYZA sailboat will be writing up a few short articles this year for the Sounding with some Pultneyville History for us. Thanks, Craig and Susan Dengel from Pultneyville, they gave Keith this picture of the Almayza sailing into the harbor past the Steam Dredge, Steam tug and Barge in the early 1900’s and the article written by Grace Lum about sailing on the Almayza. Enjoy!!

Still have 6 black Pultneyville hats left for $20, let me know if you would like to purchase one. I will bring them with me to our February First Friday Happy Hour. Please see Emily’s article about the location this month.

WELCOME ABOARD WAVES FROM THE Membership CHAIR | Cathy MacDonald
Hello everyone. Well, we certainly have had our share of snow, but spring will be here before we know it and the boats will be going in the water.
I have no new members to mention this month, but we do have a couple that have purchased a boat and hopefully will be sending through their application very soon.
📣Please don’t miss an opportunity to bring additional members to PYC! We need your assistance in this!

Ledger Lines from the Treasurer | LesLIE PhillIps
Greetings from your new Treasurer. Thank you for this opportunity to help out the Club. Thanks also to Garland, for doing such a phenomenal job the past four years. I intend to do the job as assiduously as she did.
For official Treasurer email, please use the account, and for snail mail, please use the PYC P.O. Box 137 Pultneyville, NY 14538. Of course, you can reach me by phone using the numbers in the Members section of the PYC Log Book.
Membership and doc deposit invoices went out in December. January saw most of those paid. I will reach out to those whose payments have not been made and to anyone who may be responsible for the additional late fee. Thanks to those who already provided proof of boat insurance!
📄✨”Don’t forget to send your proof of insurance”
In February, look for the invoices for the Dock Fee balance and storage, if applicable. Those should be sent out by email around the middle of the month. (I know a couple of you get the invoices by post; those will be mailed.) In the meanwhile, stay warm!

Bouy Notes from the Editor
February may be icy, but the course ahead is already charted. Soon we’ll be back on the docks, rigging up for another season on the lake. Until then, stay warm and enjoy this month’s issue.—Garland
