Signals from the Commodore | Kathy Fedick
Welcome to April!! Let’s hope the warmer weather will be here soon. Launch is Saturday May 2nd!! Mark your calendars. The 2026 Executive Committee is getting the calendar of events/races/workdays together.
Mother nature helped a few boats get uncovered during the last high winds out here. The water level is coming up fast. Our neighboring Charter Fishing boats are in the water and have already been out fishing. Always a good sign.
Mike Pinkney was the first member to try out the new ramp, and he said it worked great! 👍 Despite the chilly weather, Mike showed real bravery by coming out today ❄️💪
Don’t hesitate to reach out to the Club officers or to me if you have a special interest or skillset you’d like to share in helping maintain the beauty and integrity of the Club 🌿✨ Your involvement truly makes the difference 🙌
Dave Kay, our PYC Secretary, is working on the PYC 2026 Logbook 📘. Please send Dave any photos you have that could be considered for the logbook cover or if you would like a photo next to your name in the log. If we don’t receive an update from you, we’ll use the photo we already have on file. Send to:
Looking forward to another fun and successful boating season at PYC with plenty of wind and water.⚓

Happy April, PYC Crew!
Spring is finally on the horizon, and preparations for the new season are already in full swing. I’m thrilled to be stepping in as your new Rear Commodore and look forward to working alongside all of you to keep our club running smoothly and shipshape.
Here are the key dates to mark on your calendars:
• April 11 @ 10 AM – Club Grounds Walkaround 🌿 Everyone is welcome to join as we walk the property, identify needed repairs, and map out our spring projects.
• April 18 @ 8 AM – Fleet Captain’s Workday / Launch Floating Docks ⚓ We’ll be getting the floating docks in place and fingers secured — an essential step as we gear up for launch day.
• May 2 – Launch Day 🚤 The crane will arrive the night before, and we’ll need plenty of hands to help with trailers, cradles, and all the final preparations.
💧 The water will be turned on the week prior to launch, along with WiFi and garbage service.
• May 16 – Club Work Day #1 (Last names A–H) 🧹
• May 30 – Club Work Day #2 (Last names I–Z) 🛠️
These Club Work Days are important opportunities for all of us to pitch in and get the clubhouse, docks, grounds, and facilities ready for the summer season.
Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions, suggestions, or concerns about the club grounds, docks, work days, or any facilities issues.
WELCOME ABOARD WAVES FROM THE Membership CHAIR | Cathy MacDonald
🌸 Welcome to Spring!
I’m delighted to announce our newest Voting Member, Jordan Bell, who has purchased Windward Skye, our O’Day 32 sailboat! ⛵
Jordan is an air traffic controller based in Syracuse ✈️ and has experience chartering sailboats. He is looking forward to learning more about sailing and racing at the Club. Hopefully he will have many great memories on her, as we have. We wish him the very best!
I’d also like to encourage everyone to spread the word that PYC is a club for both sailors and power boaters ⚓🚤 — all are welcome. I’ve heard that some prospective members were told we’re a sailing‑only club, and we certainly don’t want anyone to feel discouraged from joining our community.
Stu and I plan to remain members of the Club ❤️. After 26 years, it’s become a part of our lives — and so many dear friendships began right here.
📣Please don’t miss an opportunity to bring additional members to PYC! We need your assistance in this!

Marks on the Line from the Fleet Captain | Kevin Yager
I hope everyone had a good winter. I’m so glad it’s (hopefully ) almost over. The calendar for the year is mostly complete and will be loaded into google calendar and our website soon. Highlights include our first tune-up race on Sunday May 18th, followed by our first Thursday night race on 5/21, a full day of club events on June 13th ending with a bon fire and our first “Burning of the Socks” ceremony. There’s more to come on the “Burning of the Socks.” We will be hosting Sailor Games along with Harbor Lights night and the Party on the Peninsula on August 22nd.
I’ll be spending some time at the club soon to look over our equipment and see what we need for the workday.
The Fleet Captains workday will be Saturday, April 18th 🗓️ We will be gathering at 8 AM for announcements ⏰ We have the typical tasks in store again this year 🛠️
📋Tasks include:
Launch the work boat ( if not already launched )🚤🛳️
Repair chain on buoy markers ⛓️🔧
Install buoys in the channel and race course ⚓🟡
Launch and install floating docks 🛶⚓🛠️
Unwrap clean and wax the committee boat 🧽✨🛥️
Launch and install floating docks 🛶⚓🛠️
Assemble boat‑launching frame and deliver to south shore 🧰🔩
Move trailered sailboats out of the way on peninsula if needed.⛵🚚
Also, I’m glad to coordinate with people who want to do tasks on their own time schedule. Let me know what you have in mind.
Ledger Lines from the Treasurer | Leslie phillips
The second round of annual invoices were emailed/mailed on 2/21. These should have contained line items as applicable for dock fee balance, summer storage, and racing fee.⚓️ If you want to race and were not billed for the racing fee, please let me know. Likewise, if you intend to store a dinghy, cradle, or whatnot and were not billed, let me know. The due date for this round of payments was 3/15. I will reach out to those whose payments have not been made and to anyone who may be responsible for the additional late fee.
Proof of insurance is still outstanding for several members. A photo of your declaration page is sufficient 📄. You may email it or send it by post—whichever is easier for you 📫.
📌 Reminder: for official Treasurer email please use account or the link on the PYC website, and for snail mail including payments please use the PYC P.O. Box 137, Pultneyville, NY 14538.
